Galaxy Z Flip 8 could come in Exynos and Snapdragon variants

Galaxy Z Flip 8 could come in Exynos and Snapdragon variants

Samsung is expected to launch three new foldable phones next month. One of them is the Galaxy Z Flip 8. After using an Exynos chip exclusively in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 last year, Samsung could bring back a Snapdragon-powered variant with the Galaxy Z Flip 8.

Exynos and Snapdragon variants, depending on the region

According to tipster Lanzuk, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be available in two variants: one powered by the Exynos 2600 and another powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. This change in strategy is reportedly due to an increase in the price of the Exynos chip, while Qualcomm reportedly took the opportunity to offer its competing Snapdragon chip to Samsung at a lower-than-usual price.

The Snapdragon version of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will reportedly be available in select countries and regions, while other markets will receive the Exynos 2600 variant. The Exynos 2600 is a 2nm chip with a 10-core CPU and the Xclipse 960 GPU. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip has an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 840 GPU.

Rumored Galaxy Z Flip 8 specifications

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to feature a 6.9-inch foldable OLED screen with QHD+ resolution and a 4.1-inch OLED cover display with a resolution of 1,048 x 940 pixels. It could feature 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Reports indicate that the phone will use the same camera setup as its predecessor: a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP front-facing camera.

The phone is expected to run Android 17-based One UI 9.0 out of the box and come with a promise of seven generations of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

It could feature GPS, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. The device is rumored to be powered by a 4,300mAh battery (4,174mAh rated capacity) and support 25W fast charging.
